What is Google Pay?

Google Pay is a secure and easy-to-use payment app that works in apps and on websites. It offers a variety of features, including tap and pay and ACH transfers.

The app can also be used to make payments in physical stores, as long as they support contactless payments. Tokenization ensures that merchants won’t receive your real card number.

Adding a payment method

You can add your debit or credit card information to Google payments so it follows you through most Google apps, making it easier for you to purchase and sign up for subscriptions. It also helps you make recurring payments online and on certain apps.

The Google Pay API lets you use a payment button to display a list of supported cards saved to your Google Account, as well as optional fields such as shipping address. When a user taps the button, Google Pay securely returns a payment token for that method to your app.

A payment method can be a bank account, a credit card, or another type of digital wallet. This includes Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and JCB cards.

Adding a contact

In order to use Google Pay, you need to add a contact. This can be done on the web or mobile app.

In the app, click the “+” button to add a new contact. This creates a record that is saved to your Google contacts list and automatically syncs across all of your connected devices.

Adding a new contact requires the user’s name, phone number (optional), and email address. You can also choose their permissions and their email preferences.

For example, if your Cloud Billing account is configured to be paid by invoice, you can separately configure a list of contacts that only receive invoices by email.

Users with the Manage users permission can add and update payments contacts, but they can’t assign admin-level permissions to them. They might also be unable to remove an existing user.

Adding a bill

Google payments allow you to add bills directly from the app. Once you’ve added a bill, you can pay it using your credit card or bank account, and the money will be transferred to your biller within a few days.

If you’re not already using Google Pay, you can sign up for the service to make it easier to pay your bills. You can also use Google Pay to send money to friends and family or to make purchases and pay your bills online.

Each Google payments profile has one primary contact that receives all payments emails. You can’t remove this user, but you can reassign it to another person.

Users with Read access, Edit payments profile, and Manage user permissions can add other users to their payments profiles and assign them the same or fewer permissions as they have on their user accounts. You can also set email notification preferences for these users. This topic shows you how to configure these settings in the Google payments center and your Cloud Billing account.

Adding a store

If you have a physical store, or even a website, enabling Google Pay as your customer’s preferred payment method can be an excellent way to attract new shoppers. Plus, it doesn’t cost your customers any more than they already pay when making purchases.

To add a Google Pay store to your business, you can either build it into your website or manually enable it within your Shopify site’s admin panel. Once enabled, your customers can use Google Pay to make contactless payments using their mobile devices.

Adding a nifty little feature to your Google Pay app is the ability for customers to add loyalty and gift cards to their accounts. These cards can be used like digital wallets to pay with a simple tap of the phone’s screen. To add a card or loyalty program, open the Google Pay app and tap the Passes tab. Then select a loyalty program or a gift card from the pop-up list.
