The uses of air drills can be in different sectors. One of the most essential sectors is mining rocks are removed and crashed by the operation of the drilling system. It is a method in which with the help of rotational methods air forces make holes by the process of drilling. The air compression method has made the drilling procedure easy from hard to harder surfaces.
The main reason for the increased use of drills is their availability, as well as low-cost maintenance. Now, when it comes to using an air drilling system, they are of different types. To know more about the types, read on to know more about the below-mentioned points.
1. Dust Drilling
Specifically, used in places where there is no space for water. Trailing is one of the best and most convenient ways to use providing an inexpensive method to create holes.
With the help of hammers, it is easy to push into the depth of the surfaces. At the same time, it increases the durability of the drilling tools. It is not suitable for surfaces that have the presence of water. Using it may increase the chances of forming down-hole fire.
2. Mist Drilling
Mist Drilling is one of the processes that are ideal for the areas surrounded by water soap or any other chemical inhibitors. It is not suitable for dry areas of surfaces without moisture or any presence of water.
To function effectively air drills system is moisture with water or any soap mixture. It helps in the proper drilling and ensuring the cleaning of the annular hole.
It is effective in producing deep holes by forcibly penetrating, as well as avoiding any breaking out of the downhole fires.
3. Foam Drilling
Another drilling method is the addition of foam in the air streaming while drilling. Water air and surfactants combined are used in the circulated method to drill into any surface. The efficiency of the air drills process is higher up to 6 to 7 times compared to the dust drilling method.
Lowering the pressure of their streaming into the hole enables maintaining the wall surfaces’ stability. It reduces the chances of breaking the surrounded surfaces.
4. Aerated Drilling
It is a process in which nitrogen gas is directly pushed into the standpipe. It is done by using concentrated casing strings. Mostly utilized in the areas with a high density of condensate or oil influx can evolve from the surface of the hole.
For surfaces that can bear less pressure, it is one of the best drills that can be used for drilling. It ensures to be productive with increasing penetration and lower rates of annual pressure. In this type of drilling operation, corrosion inhibitors are essential apart from nitrogen. Nitrogen is necessary that is used with oil, specifically when working on a closed-loop system.
5. Nitrogen Membrane
Some surfaces are risky and often need unique methods to penetrate and as well as, reduce the chances of any accidents. The air drilling system has a nitrogen-based membrane system that reduces the formation of fire when moving down through the hole. A nitrogen membrane is a cost-effective option to reduce the chances of down-hole fire.
Out of all the different drilling methods, one of the commonly seen functions is the drilling of rocks with the air drills. It is used for the areas where the penetrating depth is less than 15 ft/hr. When buying one for your needs, ensure to follow up on these points to make an informed decision.
