What is Imovane?

Imovane can help you fall asleep quickly and reduce how frequently you wake during the night for short-term treatments (2-4 weeks).

How does Imovane work?

Imovane is prescribed to help those suffering from insomnia (trouble sleeping) sleep better at night. It enables you to fall asleep faster and decreases how often you wake during the night, although only for short-term use, typically 2 – 4 weeks at most; consult with your physician if taking for longer than that period is advised.

As Imovane may cause drowsiness, you should wait at least 24 hours after taking it before driving or operating machinery. Furthermore, drinking alcohol could increase its effects and worsen them further.

Elderly patients may be more vulnerable to dose-related adverse effects such as drowsiness and dizziness from medications prescribed, including heavy sedation. Care should be taken not to exceed safe limits due to accidents and falls that could result from such an approach (see DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION, Geriatric patients).

Patients suffering from severe liver or kidney issues should use caution when taking IMOVANE since increased liver enzyme levels could reduce its efficacy. Elderly individuals should adhere to the recommended dose (5 mg).

Keep this medication out of reach of children, and do not give it to anyone, even if they share similar symptoms as yourself. If an adverse reaction arises when taking this medicine, notify your physician or healthcare provider immediately; also, inform all physicians, dentists, and pharmacists who encounter you that you are taking this drug.

Dosage

For optimal results, take only one tablet before bedtime to help induce fast sleep. This medication should help you fall asleep quickly for an uninterrupted night’s restful slumber – please do not take more than one pill at any one time! No more than one pill must be taken per night.

Combining Imovane with alcohol or drugs that affect sleep can cause serious side effects. Please inform your physician or pharmacist of all medicines you take without a valid prescription, including medicines purchased without one from pharmacies, supermarkets, or health food shops that could influence how well Imovane works. Taking it with opioids such as morphine increases your risk of decreased awareness, breathing issues, coma, and death, while when taken with CNS depressants such as benzodiazepines, it may increase symptoms such as sedation, dizziness, weakness, and confusion.

Reports of people leaving bed while not fully aware, after taking IMOVANE, and doing things they don’t remember doing the following day. This phenomenon is more likely to happen if alcohol or other medicines that induce sleepiness are also consumed during this timeframe.

Each tablet of IMOVANE LS contains 7.5 mg of zopiclone. Nonmedicinal ingredients in these tablets include corn starch, dicalcium phosphate, lactose, magnesium stearate, and sodium carboxymethyl starch, as well as coating materials made of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and titanium dioxide; lactose-free versions may be found here as well as coating material consisting of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and titanium dioxide. Unfortunately, this medicine should not be given to children as this medicine contains no lactose whatsoever; these medicines should not be given.
